Moonrise is a Toggenburg X Saanen doeling, but she looks like a Toggenburg and her twin brother, Seaspray, throws to the Saanen. Moon is a very well-made doeling, a little more to Saanen build, being a little taller and lighter set, but still a Toggenburg in colour and easily mistaken for a purebred by those who haven't been studying breed conformation of Dairy goats. She is a very elegant girl, and photos of her do no justice to her presence and air of a queen. Moon is a very special girl with her sweet personality and face, very well propertioned, quiet, and just a lovely doe all over. Moon has been bred to Murrungowar Zhivargo in 2010 for some 'C' grade Toggenburg kids with very good milking lines, and she will be sold afterwards. I would like to keep a doe from her though.

27-7-09 Moon inherited her mother's insatiable appetite for chook food, and it was her brother, her mother and herself that taught Bonnie and Crys' to break fences. Her mother went to some friends' place for a little while, and was cured of her addiction. When she came home again, Moon and Sea went chook-fooding with Bonnie and Crys', but when Sea went to live with the bucks to make sure he didn't drink any milk, Moon

left the chook food, and now only Bonnie still returns every morning to check if any is left.

30-9-09 Moon has grown out a lot in the last few months, and is just as beautiful and elegant as ever. She has a very pretty face, and long, curved ears that give her an especially innocent and delicate face. Moon is a very very nice doe, and should do very well in the show ring next year.

16-11-09 Moon is a very large, dairy young doe, with very open conformation and long, slender legs. She is tall, and very well grown, but definately a Saanen build, as Toggenburgs are meant to be quite a solid breed.

26-6-10 Moon is now more than three months in kid, and I can barely wait!  She has got a really nice big belly now too, and so far looks to be a really easy kidder like her mum Frolic. Moon is due on the  12th, with her half-sister Crystl the next day.  The photo on the left is nearly the most recent I have, but it is about two months old - a pic from one month ago is down at the bottom of the page.

23-10-10 Moon kidded with beautiful big twins a day early, Luna-Boy and Moonbeam. Both are now sold, but have not gone to their new homes yet.
Moon has freshened with a nice udder, still with some of her mum's pocket and tiny teats but with a very definite improvement, and with her mother's very easy flow. She is making around 2.5 litres a day at the moment. We will be retaining Moonrise for at least another two years, to provide milk in winter 2012.
