We got Ginger when she was five years old. She is a very good quality doe, having nice blending, sound legs and hooves, good shoulders, a very nice head, smooth, straight back and a reasonable amount of milk; between three and four litres, or more, per day. She is a full sister to Wairewa Midgee, our first doe. Ginger is a lot lighter than Midgee in colour, and also slightly lighter in build, although still a lovely Toggenbur shape, as well as having a nicer udder although less milk. We are very pleased with Ginger's January 08 buck, Waygara Tauphan, and are using him as a herd sire at the moment. (Update: 26-6-10 Tauphan has been sold after giving us many beautiful and refined kids, new Update, 24-9-10, Tauphan has now come back home again with more kids to his name) Tauphan has inherited Ginger's shoulders, back, legs and hooves, and has hopefully gotten the heavier milk producing factor from his sire. Kudumba Megs, our September 06 doe from Ginger, also has very nice shoulders, back, legs and hooves, and has an even shorter summer coat than her dam, giving her the appearance of having been clipped. One of Ginger's annoying characteristics is her hate of dogs, which Megs has gotten in full and Tauphan not at all. Ginger's 09 doe kid, Waygara Molasses Syrup, is one elegant kid! She was unfortunately a daughter of Eli, SkyDream's escape artist Anglo Nubian buck, who also bred Midgee and Bella. Lassie was sold at eleven days old, which made Ginger get quite annoyed to say the least, but Ginger may kid again next year... We are now looking forward to some very nice kids from Ginger in late 2010, as she had a crossbred last year, and are wondering what traits Zhivargo will throw to her kids. The first doe kid that she has will be retained.

HOORAY!!!! Registrable purebred kids! Ginger had our second ever quads on the 20th of November 2010.

29-9-09  Ginger kidded on the 9th of September 09 with a single crossbred doe, Waygara Molasses Syrup. Lassie is a very pretty girl, with very nice colouring and a beautiful, elegant face. She has already been sold.

4-12-09 We are probably going to breed Ginger late next season for a January 2011 Zhivargo kid, and she will probably have the next year off. I really want a purebred doe kid from Ginger, as she is a really high quality doe!

26-6-10 Ginger is now in kid to Murrungowar Zhivargo, and due on the 19th of November.

26-10-10 Ginger is getting really wide, she and her daughter Megs are competing for widest, slowest goat I think. She has a lovely short coat after having a blanket on most of winter, and is in reasonably good condition. She will probably have next year off.
Above, Ginger at five years old, the day after kidding with Tauphan at five years old. Below, Ginger at a bit over six years old with a full udder and in very nice condition.  Ginger at seven years old, although very thin, her udder is reasonably full in this photo
