This is Wairewa Midgee, first doe of Waygara Stud at 8 years old and dry. She is a purebred Registered Toggenburg doe, and has finally had her first purebred registerable kids for us - she is now probably going to be retired.

Midgee is a very sweet girl, with good conformation and reasonable udder, though her teats are extremely large as a result of having mastitis, which was caused by her not knowing us when we bought her and us not knowing how to milk. She is quiet and very friendly, with reasonably good blending and smooth shoulders, and has produced 5 litres per day for us. (only for a limited time as we didn't realise how much food she needed and  thoughtlessly dried her up to one milking per day)

Her one milking daughter that we own at the moment (having sold Bonnie) has a lovely udder, and SkyDreams Bella gives up to 4.5 litres per day. Waygara Bonnie, Midgee's ealry 2009 doe kid, kidded with a single buck kid after we had sold her. Apparently Bonnie is doing very well and milking well too.
We are also looking forward to Waygara Sunny Acacia, Midgee's (and our) first ever purebred, registered as purebred doe kid,  having her first kids next year. We are very pleased with Sunny - see her page for more info and photos.

These photos do a bit more justice to Midgee; she is a lovely doe and very well made
.
2009: Midgee unfortunately kidded to Louca Eli (Anglo Nubian buck) with a single crossbred doe kid, Waygara Little Fawn. We have sold Fawn, and have bred Midgee to Zhivargo. She is due on the 24th of September, and I am really hoping for some doe kids, the first of which will be retained. We will possibly be breeding Midgee again in the next few years.

2010: Midgee kidded with triplets, two bucks (one of which died due to no fault of Midgee's or his own) and a doe. We have retained the doe, Sunny Acacia, and Waygara Sharif's Squishyboy has gone off to be a stud buck. Congratulations to Squishyboy! Midgee was making over 5 litres for a while after kidding.

2011 (25th Febuary) : Midgee is now getting well on in years, and we will quite possibly be retiring her after milking her through this winter, to help provide winter milk. Midgee will be 10 years old this year, and is quite thin at the moment after finally getting over a two-month battle with worms in January.

This is Midgee at about five years old, out of focus because the photo was not of her, but she was in it and I am very short of photos of her so I used this one.

This is Midgee  at eight years old and dry. This photo is about a month before she got in kid, at which time she was in even better condition.
